Terps vs. College of Charleston Thread

11/10/2010 9:52:48 AM Something about the College of Charleston scares me.  It's probably related to Maryland's first round defeat at the hands of CoC in the 1997 NCAA Tournament.

It could also be due to the Cougars upset of UNC last year.  Or maybe it's because their Coach, Bobby Cremins used to torch the Terps in the late 80s and early 90s when he was at Georgia Tech.

Regardless, the 2010 College of Charleston Cougars are a good team.  They are picked to finish at or near the top of their conference and they boast a slew of returning players.

Included among those is Andrew Goudelock a 20ppg scorer from last year.  He's a good 3PT shooter so the Terps will need to utilize their back court quickness to prevent wide open looks from distance.

Last year, the Cougars were comfortable scoring in the 70s and 80s, so they won't necessarily try to slow it down.  That should play to the Terps advantage.

From the Terps perspective; I'd like to see us decrease the number of turnovers.  I'd also like to see the guys knock down some threes.  We can't expect to run all year and just get lay ups.  Knocking down the open three in transition will need to be part of the formula.

If we can get past this game with a win; I will feel good about the Terps heading into next weekend/s clashes at MSG.
