Terps Hold Off GT For Big Road Win

1/30/2011 8:22:30 PM It was not pretty; but the Terps got the job done in a game that they desperately needed.  Jordan had his patented 21 points and 12 boards stat line. Sean Mosley woke up from his season-long shooting slump to deliver 15 big points, and Terrell Stoglin was fantastic from the FT line.

IT wasn't all peanuts and balloons for the freshman backcourt.  Stoglin and Howard combined for 9 turnovers and allowed Georgia Tech to get back in the game.

Ultimately, the Terps stepped up when it mattered and extended the lead in final minutes.  The Terps now have 4 double digit road wins.

Now, Maryland faces their biggest game of the season on Wednesday when Duke comes to College Park.  Duke is coming off a blow out loss; but it doesn't matter.  It's not as though they wouldn't be properly motivated to play in Maryland if they were coming off a big win.  If anything, the St. Johns game exposed Duke's lack of defensive quickness.  Can Gary devise a plan to stop it?

The Duke game is now not a must-win in my opinion. It makes things a hell of a lot easier, but at least it's not do or die.  A win would be huge.   The Terps would likely be guaranteed to hit 6-3 in conference with a win because Wake is their next conference game.  A win also keeps the momentum going.  It's a very important game.  A crucial one.  Just not a necessity to make the dance.
