Terps Come Up Small Again

I will spare you the platitudes.

The goal of the game of basketball is to put the ball the basket.  Most teams are able to accomplish that with a mixture of inside and outside shots.  Maryland is an exception.

Whatever game the Terps had beyond 10 feet is absolutely gone.  It was obliterated somewhere between Charlottesville and Atlanta.  Whatever confidence our guards had is gone along with their jump shot.

Getting embarrassed by Duke at home is absolutely unacceptable.  Making the NCAA Tournament is the most important goal at the beginning of the season. Second to that objective is beating Duke.  Maryland has failed at that objective 8 out of the last 9 times.

Well, the season is officially on the brink.  The Terps are 14-8.  Despite the near certainty of getting to 16-8; the Terps have no resume to speak of.  Perhaps, if the Terps find some semblance of a perimeter game and are able to win at BC and at Virginia Tech; can they begin to think of the NCAA Tournament again.

But now?  With the Terps demoralized and licking their wounds, a four game winning streak seems a long way off. If Gary Williams can find a way to rally this team; then they should build a bronze statue of him alongside Testudo.
