Maryland vs Virginia Tech

Every game from here on out is critical for the Terps--especially the road games.  Va Tech is not a good team.  Maryland wiped the court with them last month in Comcast. It's fair to expect a much closer affair in Blacksburg tonight; but anything less than a win is unacceptable.

The Terps need an undefeated week in the worst way.  It's starts tonight; but it must continue over the weekend when UVA comes to town.  Maryland's back half ACC schedule is much easier than front half.  Most of the tough opponents are at home (Duke, UNC).  It's not inconceivable that Maryand finish the regular season win of seven of their last eight games.  That's the kind of finish we need to ensure we are dancing.

We all liked what we saw against Wake.  The Terps can and should beat just about anyone when they are hitting jumpers.  The inisde play has been dominant when the Terps are hitting from the outside.  Teams can't match up with the big men anyway and when we hit shots, it's over.  The turnovers are still a huge problem but it's manageable when good shooting our rebounding advantage are compounded.

That's the formula.  Hit shots, rebound, the interior game takes care of itself.  If we can also limit the turnovers, so much the better.

The Terps desperately need a road win to make up for the home FSU loss.  That needs to happen tonight and then we can start thinking about getting over .500.  A good UVA team and Duke loom so a loss tonight would be potentially disastrous.
