Start Danny O'Brien

OK.  The CJ Brown Experiment worked for 3 quarters.  It's over.  As we learned today, you can't build an offense around the QB sneak.  I know that 100+ years of football have already proven this fact; but apparently Randy "the Edsel" Edsall needed to learn this lesson the hard way.

Seriously.  Think about it.  Did anyone have a doubt that FSU would specifically design their gameplan to ensure that CJ Brown's zone read runs would be ineffective?  Of course not. Now, since it is painfully obvious that CJ Brown makes Maryland a one-dimensional team (with that only dimension being his ability to run); how could Maryland possibly win this game with Brown at the helm?  Apparently, Edsel thought it was possible.

Don't get me wrong. It's not as if we would have won if Danny had started the game.  This team can't beat anyone with a defense this atrocious; but who's fault is that?

The season is a disaster.  Edsel has ruined/destroyed all the momentum that last year's 9 win team achieved.  While there is no way of knowing how Maryland would have performed with Ralph Freidgen at the helm; it could hardly be worse.

Of course, the schedule get easier with a hapless BC coming to "The Sieve" (aka Byrd Stadium) this weekend.  ESPN's College Gameday hasn't decided if they will be on campus for the game.  After all, who wouldn't want to see the 2-5 Terps take on the 1-6 Eagles?

Can you tell that I'm fed up?  In case you weren't sure, here's my current Terp Approval Waterfall:

Alex Len > Turgeon > Danny O'Brien > Nick Faust > Stoglin > Howard > Dining Hall Food > Route 1 traffic > College Park Cops > UNC > Duke > Randy Edsall

The Dyke (or Dike) Is Full Of Holes

That's the best analogy I can muster at this late hour for the football Terps.  When we fix the turnovers and penalties; the defense fails to show.Due to the horrendous start time; I missed the entire game.  Needless to say, I'm thankful in retrospect.  Wake rolled up 500 yards of total offense for the first time 4 years. Sure, Chris Turner threw 3 [...] Read More »
