Nick Faust Commits To Maryland

10/28/2010 1:14:05 PM It's hard to accurately express what a big deal it is for Maryland to land a commitment from a Top 25 player like Faust.  His skills, as evidenced by this sizzle reel, haven't been seen in College Park in a long time.  He reminds me of Rudy Gay; only with a better jumper.

Based on straight rankings; he's the best Terp recruit since Mike Jones 2003.  Jones never completely lived up to the promise; but I don't think we will have to worry about that fate with Faust. The kid can do it all.

Much of the credit belongs to Bino Ranson.  He went back to Baltimore and got it done.  When was last time that Maryland got the best player out of Baltimore City?  My guess is Keith Booth.  (Editor's note:  I can't count Juan Dixon because as great as he was; he was barely recruited out of Calvert Hall.).  That was 17 years ago. That is terrible on multiple levels.  First because it means I'm really old and second because 17 years is a long time to consistently miss out on the best players from our state.

Now, in terms of rounding out the class, the Terps have space for one more kid.  Hopefully, that will be a big man (Baru?).  It sounds like Greg Lewis has a soft offer; but Baru would be the best guy out there, so hopefully with Nick in tow; he falls to us.

Regardless, what a day for a Maryland.  Congrats to Gary, Bino, and the rest of the staff.
