DeSouza Breaks Both Legs in Scooter Accident

10/22/2010 12:00:00 AM As if things with the football program can't get any worse.  These paragraph's courtesy of the Baltimore Sun:

Maryland offensive lineman Pete DeSouza broke both legs in an accident on his motor scooter and is out for the season, according to the school.

DeSouza, the starting right tackle, "was having surgery Friday morning and is expected to remain in the hospital throughout the weekend," according to a Maryland release. It said he "is expected to make a full recovery, but will be out for the rest of the season."

According to an earlier Department of Public Safety release, DeSouza "was operating a motor scooter traveling westbound on Campus Drive when a motorist turned left in front of DeSouza near the Stamp Student Union. DeSouza’s scooter collided with the vehicle causing DeSouza to go down."

What are the odds.  I mean, I'm glad he's going to be okay long-term, but why would a 300+lb. football player not have better transportation than a scooter???  Can't he get some hot co-ed to give him rides?

Anyway, let's hope the team comes together tomorrow on the road and wins one for DeSouza.  He will be a big part of this offensive line for years to come.  BC has a good defensive line, so the guys will have their hands full.
