Clemson Game Thread

Tonight the Terps can reach the promised land of 10 wins.  By no means is this the biggest hurdle left in their path; but it is a major one nonetheless.  Clemson is clearly capable of making life extremely difficult for our skill players and the Terps will not be taking them lightly.

Of course, after Saturday's heroics; there's always the possibility of an emotional letdown.  Gary Williams teams usually don't fall short in that department; but Saturday's circumstances were extraordinary.

Demontez Stitt will be in the lineup tonight for Clemson.  He missed the first game with an ankle injury and that should help Clemson offensively.  Let's hope it's not that much of a lift.  Clemson understands that they need a road win to solidify their resume and I'm sure they feel confident after beating us in Littlejohn.

Maryland will not go down easy.  The Terps are undefeated at home in the conference this season.  Clemson is going to have to come to Comcast and take it to us if they are going to emerge victorious.  Don't bet on that happening with Greivis and Gary Williams standing in their way.

The Evolution of Greivis Vasquez

I have a foggy memory of Greivis Vasquez's coming out party. It's not foggy because I'm getting old and can't remember things or because I was under the influence of alcohol. Actually, I watched the ACC/Big Ten Challenge matchup between Maryland and Illinois on November 28th, 2006 from my couch at home. I had gall bladder surgery the day before [...] Read More »

Georgia Tech Afterglow

It's been more than 24 hours since the Miracle at Comcast and I still don't know what to make of it. Personally, it's the only buzzer beater that I have ever witnessed in person.  I was there with the same guys who were with me when Drew Nicholas hit the game winner in the NCAA Tournament 7 years ago (we were in Vegas for that).  Since we see each [...] Read More »

Turtle Soup Is At Comcast Center For The Gameday Thread

Gregg and I will be making our annual pilgrimage to College Park tomorrow to watch the Terps take on the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets.  Tech has an RPI in the 20s , so a win would represent Maryland's best this season (on paper). The Terps are cruising.  So far this week, they've dismantled Virginia at home and followed that up by sleeping walking thr [...] Read More »

Phew! Terps Escape Raliegh With A Win

The Terps had every reason to call it quits at halftime tonight. Down 10 points and playing their 3rd game in 5 days; lesser teams would have folded. Gary was able to rally the troops despite the adversity.  In particular, Greivis Vasquez, Jordan Williams, Adrian Bowie, and Dino Gregory all made key plays to lead the comeback.Dino had the block hea [...] Read More »

Terps-NC State Preview & Thread

I know it's tough on the players, but how cool is it to be able to watch a Terps hoops game every other day?! I realize most of us expect an easy win tonight, but I don't think it'll be that easy. I hope to be wrong, but this is the still the same Wolfpack team that beat Duke by double digits. They are dangerous despite the fact they have lost 4 [...] Read More »

Terps Bounce Back, Crush Virginia

What Duke game?  Gary Williams said before the game that it was "gut check" time and his Terps came through.  Maryland blew Virginia out of the building.  It wasn't even close.  From the opening tip, the Terps took the game to the Cavaliers.  What's more, there was a workmanlike self-assurance that the starters displayed.  It was as if they knew th [...] Read More »

Terps-UVA Game Thread

I apologize to folks who have been unable to get on the site for the last few hours.  GoDaddy clearly sucks as a web hosting platform. No matter.  The Terps are taking on a frisky Cavalier squad that could put a major dent in what has largely been a great ACC season thus far.  Maryland will need to forget about the Duke debacle and focus on what got [...] Read More »

Forget It and Move On

Calm down everyone.I figured I would see a whole lot of 'we suck', 'I'm embarrassed', 'I'm done with this team' crap after this one. Now don't get me wrong, I was pretty damn frustrated and pissed off. This was not the game I hoped to see. However, it's done. They had a bad game, and you know what? If we were going to have a bad game shooting [...] Read More »

Duke Game Survival Guide and Game Thread

The fact that the mid-week game against UVA was postponed this week has only added to the anticipation for tip off at Cameron tomorrow.   It's hard not to get carried away. The Terps have been cruising and Duke looks vulnerable (aka frighteningly unathletic); but we need to be realistic.  Here are six tips to get you through the game:1.  Expect a lo [...] Read More »
