Turtle Soup Recruiting Tab

You've probably noticed a "Recruiting" tab on the navigation bar on the Turtle Soup home page.  To date, we have not done anything with it; but I just added a post with some you tube clips of every 2012 basketball signee and target.

There is a place to comment underneath the post so there can be an ongoing discussion of the recruiting situation.  I'm hoping that all recruiting comments can go there, so we can keep that discussion separate from the discussions that normally occur about the current season.

Please check it out and feel free to let the comments flow!

2012 Basketball Recruting Targets

- Sterling Gibbs: 6'3" 18-lbs Scouting Grade: 91 Gibbs has grown two inches in between his junior and senior season.  He is the brother of Pitt's Ashton Gibbs and if he is anything like his brother (he is now taller than Ashton), then the Terps have their floor leader for the next 4 years. Wake Forest Game Thread

I'm tempted to call this a trap game because the Terps will likely suffer a hangover after getting outclassed by Duke.  Well, if that is in the cards, I don't want to be a part of it. Wake is terrible.  Maryland is playing terrible.  Something's gotta give.  Actually it doesn't.  Maryland can play poorly and still beat [...] Read More »

Don Brown Is Leaving

for UConn.  My guess is that he is leaving Maryland to return his home in New England. Even so, this is a huge embarrassment to the university. UConn should not be a lateral move from Maryland; but aside from that it just further illustrates what a mess the Athletic Department has become.  Kevin Anderson botched the Fridge firi [...] Read More »

Duke Game Thread

It's almost game time.  Terp fans have been anxiously awaiting tip-off as a victory could turn the season on its ear.  I don't think we expect Jordan Williams to do it alone.  One or two backcourt guys will need to step up.  It goes without saying that we need to hold our own on the glass and keep turnovers low.  [...] Read More »

Bring On Duke

Well, I'm hunkered down in the Soup Lair while the city of Chicago gets pelted with "Thundersnow" and 20ft waves from Lake Michigan. Instead of trying to come up with useless euphemisms for major snowstorms (Snowmegeddon, Snowpocalypse, or my favorite, Snowlocaust); I thought I'd pen a little preview of tomorrow's tilt. The Terps have [...] Read More »

Terps Hold Off GT For Big Road Win

It was not pretty; but the Terps got the job done in a game that they desperately needed.  Jordan had his patented 21 points and 12 boards stat line. Sean Mosley woke up from his season-long shooting slump to deliver 15 big points, and Terrell Stoglin was fantastic from the FT line. IT wasn't all peanuts and balloons for the freshman backco [...] Read More »

Georgia Tech Thread

The Terps face another must-win game tonight if they hope to continue their climb back into the NCAA Tournament. Georgia Tech is a bit of an enigma.  We've seen perplexing home losses to teams like Kennesaw State and Charlotte; followed by uplifting wins against the likes of UNC and Virginia Tech. So who are the Yellowjackets? It seem [...] Read More »

Terps Rout UVa in Charlottesville 66-42

Maryland recorded it largest margin of victory in Charlottesville since 1930. The most impressive part was the defensive effort. UVA scored a meager 42 points.  Of course, UVA missed open shots; but the Terps didn't give them many.  If the Terps can sustain this effort; they will win in Atlanta on Sunday. Another important piece of ton [...] Read More »
