Maryland vs West Virginia

Nothing says Big Ten vs Big 12 like Maryland vs. West Virginia, eh?  Seriously, this venerable rivalry endures despite all the conference shifting underneath our feet and that is something to be happy about.

As for the game, the Mountaineers are always a bellwether for our Terps.  A win and we are a good team.  A loss and we are average.  Today will be no different. West Virginia sports the excellently named Clint Trickett at QB.  The Terps destroyed him last season but he is a year older and better.  WVU held their own against Alabama so this likely won't be a cakewalk.

The Terps need to play much better offensively than what we saw in South Florida.  CJ Brown has looked terrible thus far.  He's turned the ball over, his accuracy (never a strong suit) has been particularly bad.  Today, he needs to step up. I don't need a superstar, just a guy who can limit mistakes and get the ball in the hands of playmakers.

A win today and I think the Terps will be 5-0 headed into the Ohio State game.  Wouldn't that be something?

Maryland vs James Madison

This is going to be a year of firsts for Maryland.  It starts today.  Maryland will take the field as a member of the Big Ten for the first time.  The Terps will play James Madison, an opponent they should roll.  That is of little importance because the college football season has started and that is a reason to rejoice. Mary [...] Read More »

Trayvon Reed Is Gone

What..the..hell? Trayvon Reed's career at Maryland is over before it even begins. He was kicked off the team today. Based on the reports, it is hard to blame anyone but Trayvon for getting kicked off the basketball team. Apparently, he punched a cop over the theft of $5 worth of candy.  Let that one sink in.  It is inexcusable to st [...] Read More »

Maryland Terps Make Their First Sweet 16 -- In Baseball

It's hard to believe but the Maryland Terrapins baseball team is on a roll. Up until about 3 years ago, baseball at Maryland was basically a joke.  Historically, Shipley Field only existed as a roadblock for freshman in the Ellicott and Denton quads from getting to class.  Now, baseball is the biggest sensation on campus. Thanks to an [...] Read More »

Richaud Pack Joins, Michal Cekovsky Signs, Charles Mitchell Leaves

Lots of news coming out of College Park.  Charles Mitchell is leaving to be closer to his ailing Grandmother. I wish him the best.  Regardless of the circumstances the optics are bad for Turgeon.  Yes, Mitchell's departure seemingly has nothing to do with Turgeon and is of a personal nature.  Yet, it's another kid who didn't [...] Read More »

Seth Allen To Transfer. What's Next?

"The night is dark and full of terrors".  So goes the admonition in HBO's Game of Thrones.  It also seems to be an appropriate theme for Mark Turgeon's offseason.  First he jettisons "dead weight" players who had underwhelmed: Faust, Cleare, Peters.  On paper, it looks like some housekeeping.  Apparently [...] Read More »
