#15 Maryland vs Oakland

12/25/2014 7:27:21 PM This Terrapin team has exceeded all expectations as Maryland enters its final tune up before diving into the Big Ten schedule.  What more can be said?  Melo Trimble has been a revelation.  His impact on the court goes beyond the numbers in the stat sheet.  It's the way he gets the ball into the half court set.  The way he protects the basketball.  The way he creates spacing on the floor.  The way he gets in the lane when the Terps need a bucket.  The way he knocks down free throws in crunch time.  How's that for a resume?

The other freshman have been great too.  Nickens has been the most consistent. He's an elite shooter with no fearlessness.  Wiley and Ceko have flashed skill as well.  Both will be contributors all season long.

Damonte Dodd has emerged as defensive anchorman in addition to being a developing post up scorer.

These have been some of the headlines but not all.

Jake Layman has truly emerged as a complete player. His performance against Oklahoma State was all one could have hoped for.  He took it to the hole.  He hit from deep.  He was the best player on the floor.

Dez Wells may suit up tomorrow.  I'm not worried about him being integrated back in to the lineup.  Good players are good players and we need as many of them as possible. I hope he's ready to go tomorrow because it'd be nice to get him some minutes prior to the Terps trip to Lansing on the 30th.

Oakland is a scrappy team.  They took Pitt to double OT before ultimately losing.  Maryland may not blow this team out but we'll win.  This team ain't losing to cupcakes anymore.
